A solution is not complete simply because it has been designed or developed. Before it can be released, the team must confirm that it works as intended, satisfies the agreed requirements, and delivers what the business actually needs.
Meeting 5 focuses on testing, UAT, deployment, and requirements traceability. Building on the approved design package from Meeting 4, participants will work through the activities required to validate the solution and prepare it for release.
The team will begin by developing the solution and supporting the testing process through unit and integration testing. Participants will review test results, identify and resolve defects, and verify that the implemented solution continues to align with the approved requirements.
The session then moves into User Acceptance Testing, where the Product Owner and business stakeholders evaluate whether the solution meets the intended business needs. Participants will also prepare the deployment plan and use traceability to connect requirements to the solution and testing evidence.
The goal is to ensure the team can confidently answer three important questions: Did we build the right solution? Did we build it correctly? And is it ready for the business to use?
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the roles of Business Analysis, Development, QA, and Product Ownership during solution validation.
- Develop and review test cases against defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Distinguish between unit testing, integration testing, and User Acceptance Testing.
- Identify, document, and resolve defects.
- Verify that implemented functionality satisfies approved requirements.
- Apply requirements traceability to connect business needs, requirements, testing, and solution outcomes.
- Understand the key considerations involved in preparing a solution for deployment.
Session Activities
Develop Solution
Build the solution based on the approved requirements and design package.
Perform Unit Testing
Validate individual components of the solution to ensure they function as expected.
Perform Integration Testing
Verify that different components and systems work together correctly.
Fix Defects
Review identified issues, determine appropriate resolutions, and validate corrections.
Verify Requirements
Confirm that the implemented solution satisfies the approved requirements and acceptance criteria.
User Acceptance Testing
Allow the Product Owner and business stakeholders to evaluate the solution from a business and user perspective.
Prepare Deployment
Develop the necessary plan and considerations for moving the tested solution toward release.

What Participants Will Take Away
Participants will leave Meeting 5 with a tested and validated solution, documented testing and UAT results, resolved defects, and a deployment plan. They will also understand how traceability helps demonstrate that the final solution remains connected to the original requirements and business objectives. These outputs prepare the team for the final stage of the simulation: Meeting 6 — Awards Ceremony, Team Presentations, Recognition & Community Partner Highlights, where teams will present and reflect on their completed work.
